What is Melanoma?

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer in which a pigmented skin cell, called a melanocyte, has lost its normal growth patterns, resulting in uncontrolled growth of the cells.

What is the Alberta Society of Melanoma?

The Alberta Society of Melanoma is a group of patients and their families who are interested in informing and educating the public about melanoma. The society was founded in 1995 by Dr. Jimbo and Dr. Tom Salopek whom felt that it was important for people to have more knowledge about the disease. We are a unique organization because of this medical support and our commitment to our purpose.
